Mr. Steve Macklin

Hello, my name is Steve Macklin. I am the Technology Director for North Adams Community Schools. The 2016-2017 school year marks my first year in this position; however, I first joined the NACS Technology Department nearly three years ago. I feel very blessed to have such a dedicated tech staff here at North Adams. While it has been a very challenging transition, my team has been very supportive (and patient) with me.

My position looks different day to day. While my primary responsibility is to ensure that we maintain the integrity of our district's technology, network, and systems, each day brings new [and very different] tasks depending on the needs of the buildings, students and staff that we serve.

In a nutshell, just as quickly as technology evolves and changes, so does my day and the need to remain at the forefront of technology. I make it my focus to always provide the necessary diligence and attention to the district's needs for technology, and I work to bring technological solutions to those needs.

  • I was born and raised right here in Decatur, Indiana, and came through Bellmont High School. I majored in Physics at Purdue - which is hard to accept because I am a lifelong IU fan! Later, I went back to get a degree in Information System Security.

My lovely wife, Jaime, teaches choir at Bellmont Middle School and Bellmont High School. She serves as the director for the high school show choir, The Brave Generation. When time permits, I help them out with construction and management of their backstage scenery, props, etc. I enjoy movies, football [Go Bears!], baseball [Go Yankees!], and woodworking/construction projects. None of that can match spending quality time with family and friends though.

As for local community organizations, I have spent a lot of time over the years helping out our local Relay for Life [American Cancer Society] chapter, and I am also a member of the local Free and Accepted Masons Lodge.

  • I am always willing to do whatever I am able to help support your technology needs. Feel free to contact me if you have questions or concerns that I can assist with.
