Ms. Erin Ripley
I am Erin Ripley, director of food and nutrition services for North Adams Community Schools. I have had the pleasure of working for North Adams Community Schools since 2006 to provide the management and resources necessary to meet the nutritional needs of our school community, as well as the needs of our area parochial schools.
As both a professional member of the Indiana School Nutrition Association and former president of the Allen County American Culinary Federation, I am dedicated to connecting our district with agencies and resources that provide tools needed to successfully feed our community healthy meals. It is over great importance to me to continue to serve the community in the greatest capacities in which we are able.
One of our most successful programs to be implemented includes our annual Summer Meal Program, which served more than 5,100 meals during the month of June 2016. This is in addition to the 650 breakfasts, 2000 lunches, and 150 snacks served daily across the district, throughout the school year. Other responsibilities that are important functions to my position include: creating and implementing the North Adams Community Schools Wellness Guidelines/Committee, creating Healthy Choice Meal Plans, HACCP Guidelines, Sanitation Training, Team Initiative Training, Progressive Counseling Guidelines, Smart Snack Standards, New Meal Pattern Guides, and the Meal Talk Nutritional Program.
I am the youngest of three sisters that I adore, sincerely. I love to travel with family as often as I am able, and "farm to fork" dining is always a part of my agenda. Oh, and I am also a Bellmont alumni. Go Braves.
My background is unique having come from the restaurant and tourism side of the industry. I served my apprentiship under Chef Matthew Nolot of Fort Wayne's Orchard Ridge Country Club. Following my apprentiship, I had the opportunity to serve as chef from 1999-2001, allowing me to gain many of the skills that I find necessary in order to be successful here at North Adams, such as: budgeting, menu design, catering and customer service.
I enjoy the personal/professional relationships that I have built during my career. I am an officer to the ISNA Membership, and am responsible to promote and share opportunities within the group. I serve as the Region 3 Regional Representative, providing assistance in supplying better tools to the region to best serve students and the community. I also represent North Adams Community Schools as a member of the Optimist Club and Adams County Winning with Wellness organization.
I have been lucky enough to be spotlighted in several hospitality publications, including: Ivy Tech Community College's Northeast Summer 2014 edition and Gordon Food Service Summer 2016 Food Elements magazine.
I am truly honored to be a part of this community and district, and for the opportunity to serve you. I certainly feel as though my position is more than a job; it's my calling. If there is every anything that I can do to support your student or help you to gain a better understanding of the importance of healthy meals, please do not hesitate to contact me.
