All volunteers of North Adams Community Schools are required to have an approved Background Check on file with the school corporation. Background checks for potential volunteers are based on a limited background check that verifies database searches for criminal records, Department of Correction records, sex offender registries, and driving records. Volunteers are authorized on the basis of satisfactory background check results.
You will be asked to complete a background check every three years during the period in which you are interested in serving as a volunteer of North Adams Community Schools.
REQUEST A BACKGROUND CHECK:
If you are ready to become a volunteer and would like to request a background check, please contact North Adams Community Schools Administration Office at 260.724.7146 or via email at email@example.com and a member of our team will help you complete the background check process.
In some cases, limited background checks are conducted and there is not enough information to authorize/issue satisfactory background check results and a report requests that an individual complete fingerprinting to complete the background check screening. If this is the case, please follow the instructions below.
IF FINGERPRINTING IS REQUESTED:
In the event that a background check comes back with the request to conduct fingerprinting for the completion of the background check, individuals are asked to:
- Report to Decatur Sheriff's station and request to have fingerprinting completed, Monday through Friday during the hours of 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM. There is a $5.00 fee for conducting another background screening and a $5.00 fee for fingerprinting.
- Background screening results and the fingerprinting card should be returned to North Adams Community Schools following completion for clearance.
