Mr. Aaron Baker
Hello!
My name is Aaron Baker and I am the principal here at Southeast Primary. Along with the rest of the staff here at Southeast, I am very excited to be a part of your child's educational journey. These beginning stages are very fun and exciting. As your child’s academic journey begins, the staff and I, here at Southeast, are committed to helping your child reach excellence as we model this throughout our school and district.
I am passionate about leading our building with your child’s best interest in mind. I am committed to learning and growing in ways to fulfill your child’s personal and academic goals. Thus creating a positive, nurturing and exciting learning experience.
I began my teaching career in North Adams at Monmouth Elementary from 2000-2010. I started out as a Title I/Reading Recovery trained teacher and taught reading for three years. I then moved to second grade, where I taught for 5 years. Next, I transitioned to fourth grade and taught there for 2 years. From there, I began my administrative journey as the Assistant Principal at Bellmont High School for four years. Finally, in 2014 I was named principal at Southeast and began, what could quite possibly be, the most rewarding positon of my teaching career.
About Me
-
My wife, Heidi, and I have lived in Decatur our whole lives and we have three wonderful children Ellie, Piper, and Beau. We are a very busy family running kids to sports, dance and anything else they can get involved with.
Baseball and sports, in general, are a big part of my life. While in college, I had the opportunity to play division I baseball at Indiana State. I was even lucky enough to be drafted by the Houston Astros Major League Baseball team. Coaching is now how I get to stay involved in sports, I started out coaching baseball at the age of 18 and still continue to coach baseball and softball, 24 years later.
