Early Childhood Education
North Adams Community Schools offers high quality, engaging and developmentally appropriate preschool programs that support early literacy and school readiness. We focus on preparing our young learners for strong, well-developed reading and literacy readiness skills so their entrance into our kindergarten program is a natural, successful transition.
Our preschool students are taught by highly qualified, certified educators that understand and value the importance of early skill development. Our teachers and instructional assistants seeks to foster independent, child-centered growth in a "Play to Learn" environment and low teacher-to-student ratio.
Our preschool program runs two 5/day a week sessions. The morning AM session will be held from 8:00 AM - 10:45 AM. The afternoon PM session will be held from 11:45 AM - 2:30 PM. Breakfast is provided to students during the AM session and lunch is provided to students during the PM session every day!
Preschool is open to all students ages 3, 4, and 5. We promote integrated learning environments for students of all learning types and all ability levels. Children age 3-5 who have demonstrated developmental delays in learning or demonstrate disabilities in qualifying areas may be eligible to receive preschool services through Adams-Wells Special Services.
We are committed to providing affordable and accessible opportunities for our young learners to receive the vital early learning foundation needed for academic success throughout their years ahead. For families that meet income eligibility requirements, sliding-scale, income based preschool services are available.
We welcome all families and students to North Adams Community Schools. We are prided on being the choice district with a premier preschool program for our school community and surrounding areas.
