Field Trip/Classroom Volunteers
BACKGROUND CHECKS
All volunteers of North Adams Community Schools are required to have an approved Background Check on file with the school corporation. Background checks for potential volunteers are based on a limited check that verifies database searches for criminal records, Department of Correction records, sex offender registries, and driving records. Volunteers are authorized based on satisfactory background check results which must be updated annually.
Occasionally, limited background checks are conducted and there is not enough information to authorize/issue satisfactory background check results. In those cases, a Safe Visitor background check will be required. The cost for the background check is $12.95 and includes a national screening process against the following: National Criminal Database, National Sex Offender Registry, Statewide Criminal, County Criminal and Federal Criminal Courts. Please note, once submitted, the Safe Visitor background check (if required) may take 5 to 7 days to complete.
Volunteer Application Process
1. PLAN EARLY – 14 days of processing time required.
2. To be approved as a building volunteer, you are required to complete 2 short trainings: Bloodborne Pathogens and Bullying Prevention. Click the link below to complete the volunteer trainings.
3. *** IMPORTANT NEXT STEP ***- A link will be provided at the end of the volunteer training to access the 24-25 Volunteer Application Form. Download & save the Volunteer Application to your device. ONE form per adult - If you have multiple students, please list on the same form.
4. Mail or hand-deliver completed volunteer application to the address below. DO NOT EMAIL. Deliver to:
North Adams Administration Office (625 Stadium Drive, Decatur, IN 46733)
5. When the steps listed above are complete, your criminal history check will be conducted with the Indiana State Police. You will be notified by email of the results.
