North Adams Community Schools must provide annual training for all employees who have a risk of occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens. To complete the training, all employees are required to watch the video above as an acknowledgement of Bloodborne Pathogens awareness.

Please view the 10 minute video, "It's Up To You! Avoiding Bloodborne Pathogens in Schools" and read the Hepatitis B Vaccine Information Sheet and PPE OSHA Fact Sheet to complete your training. An accessible copy of the regulatory text of the "Occupational Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens; Final Rule", may be found in the nurse's office at each school.

Exposure Control:
The Exposure Control Plan is available in the nurse's office at every school. Any employee who has a specific eye, mouth, or other mucous membrane, non-intact skin or parenteral (needle stick) contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials is to make an immediate report to the school nurse of the exposure incident.

Upon receipt of the exposure incident, North Adams Community Schools will direct the employee to a licensed health care provider who will provide counsel regarding the incident and how to prevent further spread of any potential infection and who will prescribe treatment in accordance with current recommendations of the US Public Health Services.
